The economic knowledge constitutes a basis of functioning in today's market reality. The appropriate financial competences are crucial not only in order to manage a household rationally, but also to consciously use the available services. Improving one's financial awareness and knowledge is a proper way to gain skills in the management of their own financial assets.
International Savings Day is celebrated worldwide each year on 31 October, with a variety of financial education events. In 2018, The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation put Poland on the global map of celebrations for the 11th time. The event is an excellent opportunity to discuss various aspects of personal finance. The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation organizes the campaign in cooperation with Think! Foundation.
Goals
The aim of Savings Week campaign is to promote saving as a lifelong habit as well as rational management of financial resources.
Project execution
Activities under the "Savings Week" are, in fact, performed throughout the whole year, and their finale takes place along with the "World Savings Day", which falls on 31 October. "Savings Week" involves, among other things, optional classes in the scope of financial education at universities, public debates concerning financial education and support to Poles' entrepreneurship combined with workshops for university students, a series of contest organized as part of the "First Million" game, presentation of results of the research related to Poles' attitudes toward saving and educational media campaign. What is more, since the beginning of academic year 2015/2016, the game "First Million" has been included in the curriculum of "Behavioral Finance" and "Introduction to Finance" compulsory classes at the Faculty of Management and Economics of Services of the University of Szczecin.
As part of the "Savings Week", various groups of recipients have a chance of checking their knowledge in the game "First Million". It is an online simulation which is supposed to establish good habits related to personal finance management. Additional role of the game is to convey knowledge on the operation of banking services, capital market, credits/loans and other financial products and to allow players to compete with each other. A player who improves his or her skills and maintains a high life satisfaction ratio should quickly gain the virtual 1 million zlotys.
For 11 years, The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation has examined Poles' knowledge and approaches towards finances under the program "Savings Week". Thanks to several years of observations, we were able to identify certain regularities and changes, which were presented in the research "Poles' Attitudes Towards Saving".
The research was carried out upon order of The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation by Millward Brown.

Support program addressed to teachers and students in the scope of safe and effective hybrid education.
The CyberStrong School program was established to address teachers' needs arising from the online education mode introduced during the pandemic. It encompasses a series of workshops and meetings to improve teachers' skills in the scope of online security, identifying addictions in children and using technology to organize engaging lessons. The first edition of the project was very popular - in less than 24 hours there were over 600 teachers registered in the program. In the second edition there are 643 of them. They are not only from big cities, but also from small towns and rural areas. Open lectures can be attended by anyone interested in the subject of the meetings, and not only the registered participants.
The second edition of the program comprises four modules addressed to: early school education teachers, tutors and teachers of 4th-8th grades of primary and secondary schools as well as two groups of teachers returning to the program after the last year's edition. Given the great popularity of the program in the group of tutors and teachers, we added more workshops for this group, so that everyone interested can take advantage of the meetings with the invited specialists. All the workshops and lectures are held in the online formula.
Particular emphasis is placed on the ever more urgent issue of low well-being among children, adolescents and teachers resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as mental disorders related to the excessive use of digital tools among young people. The knowledge obtained during the program will help teachers better navigate the digital world and do it with more ease as well as guide students and parents through that world. With the new knowledge, educators can better cooperate with their students, raise their awareness of such phenomena as online hate and the related violence, encourage them to intervene, talk with their parents and other students about the threats associated with the Internet. Another goal of the program is also to show the participants the dangers of addiction to digital devices. In the program, we not only list the signs of such an addiction, but also explain how it can be prevented, what to do when it happens and how to talk about it with students and parents.
