Under the Employee Volunteering Program, volunteers from Citi Handlowy and Citi subsidiaries work in a variety of community initiatives:
Citi Global Community Day is an international project involving Citi employees in work for their local communities. Citi volunteers are joined by their families, friends, clients of the bank and all those who have community matters at heart. Since 2006 Citi Handlowy and Citi Service Center Poland volunteers helped more than 285 000 people.
In this innovative initiative, volunteering for local communities is included in off-site team-building events. Teams join forces to work for children's homes, animal shelters, community culture centres, etc.
Volunteers deliver individual projects or join larger regular economic education programs:
- My Finances and From Penny to Pound - as coaches delivering workshops,
- Banks in Action - Contest of Financial Knowledge - as expert consultants in the production of teaching materials,
- Savings Week - as coaches delivering workshops.
An example of synergy between the Employee Volunteering Program and The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation's Grant Program is Citi Handlowy volunteers' involvement in the Konkordia project (http://konkordia.org.pl) delivered by Duende Foundation. In September 2011 and 2012 Citi Handlowy volunteers helped to organize Konkordia conferences in Sopot, with The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation acting as a strategic, expert partner. The aim of the project is to develop standards for effective cross-sector cooperation involving civic, business, municipal and scientific communities. Citi Handlowy volunteers provided assistance at the reception desk, were involved in the organization of the main session and worked in the press service unit.
Volunteering in Citi Handlowy and Citi subsidiaries is not limited to major cyclic projects such as Citi Global Community Day. Citi volunteers can take the initiative and organize their own community projects as well as use the opportunities provided in e-mails sent to all employees registered in the Employee Volunteering Program.
Employees of the bank distribute gifts and organize Christmas parties for children in childern's homes and community child support centres. This initially small grassroot initiative brought to life by one of Citi Handlowy volunteer leaders has gained support from so many of the bank's employees, that The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation decided to lend a hand.
Since 2010 The Citi Handlowy Leopold Kronenberg Foundation conducted Student Community Project. The idea behind the project is to provide students with opportunities for creative application of their energy and interests to the benefit of the community. In 2016 in cooperation with Szczecin University, 18 projects were conducted.
